Nautiloids Association

SKU: GD-A1076W Category:

A beautiful nautiloids association in shades of grey and brown with a hint of mauve, floating above four smaller nautiloids in matrix. Nautiloids, a large and diverse group of cephalopods, are said to be the ancestors of all cephalopods with ammonites having descended from them. While ammonites are extinct cephalopod mollusks, nautiloids are equally beautiful and important to the study of geology and paleontology. Ammonites are distinguished by shell ornamentation and suture lines. This smooth shelled fossil nautiloids association took on its unusual coloration during the fossilization process. The simplicity of the spiral is beautifully displayed on a custom ebony base.
