Scallop Shells
An otherworldly bed of scallop shells in pure white, harkens to the ocean past. These scallops are extinct bivalve mollusks that were active swimmers and hermaphroditic. The Gigantopecten shells are very similar to today’s scallops and the most typical ornamental features in Mediterranean renaissance architecture.
The garden of over 10 fossil shells, unearthed in France, is displayed on a custom ebony base in beautiful contrast to the alluring white toned calcite pecten.
