Iridescent Ammolite
An opalescent rainbow in vivid shades of green, red, orange, yellow, blue and violet, iridescent ammolite is among the rarest of gems.
Formed under unique geological processes during fossilization, ammolite is unique to Alberta, northeast of the Rocky Mountains. Named “Ammon’s Horns,” for the ancient Egyptian god of life and procreation known for his ram horns, ammonites have been treasured by cultures around the world for thousands of years. Ammonites are extinct cephalopod mollusks, equally beautiful and important to the study of geology and paleontology. Among the most prized, are ammolite ammonites.
This exceptional, shimmering specimen presents every color in the rainbow. Displayed on a custom, rotating stand, the lustrous surface of this iridescent ammolite captures and reflects light from every angle, creating a dynamic visual experience designed to showcase every vibrant color.
