Mammoth Jaw

This remarkably preserved specimen exhibits complete molars with enamel. This large lower jaw belonged to a woolly mammoth, the iconic Ice Age mammal known for dense fur and large tusks. Woolly mammoths migrated north with the last glaciations of the Pleistocene, where the ice has preserved the relatives of the modern elephant in pristine condition. Early man hunted these large creatures, and they have been depicted in cave paintings.
